Wike attacks Amaechi for ‘fueling ethnic division’

Alex MandyBy Alex MandyMarch 16, 2023No Comments1 Min Read

Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, has berated his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi, who allegedly went to the Igbo resident in the state to tell them that if they supported his candidate, Tonye Cole of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the March 18 governorship election, they will get their ‘compensation for abandoned property’.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Wike spoke on Thursday when he hosted the National Executive Committee of ‘Ohanaeze Ndigbo’ Worldwide, at the Government House in Port Harcourt.

The governor stated that with the gubernatorial election around the corner, the former Minister of Transportation scratched on old scars and fanned the ember of violence “to disrupt the prevailing cordial relationship and peace between Rivers people and the Igbo people in the State”.

Governor Wike wondered why, if he (Amaechi) loves the Igbos that much, could not implement such compensation when he was governor of the State for 8 years.
